A warm, aromatic syrup that captures the essence of winter spices. Keep a bottle in the fridge to transform any drink into a festive treat.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 Tbsp Mulling Spices

Instructions

Simmer and Infuse

  1. Combine: In a small saucepan, stir together the ½ cup sugar, ½ cup water, and 1 Tbsp Mulling Spices.
  2. Dissolve: Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved and the liquid is clear.
  3. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the syrup simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. This allows the spices to fully "bloom" and infuse the syrup with deep, woody notes.

Cool and Strain

  1. Steep: Remove from heat. For a stronger spice profile, let the spices sit in the liquid until it reaches room temperature.
  2. Strain: Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a glass jar. Discard the whole spices.
  3. Store: Keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to one month.
