A warm, aromatic syrup that captures the essence of winter spices. Keep a bottle in the fridge to transform any drink into a festive treat.
Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 Tbsp Mulling Spices
Instructions
Simmer and Infuse
- Combine: In a small saucepan, stir together the ½ cup sugar, ½ cup water, and 1 Tbsp Mulling Spices.
- Dissolve: Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved and the liquid is clear.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the syrup simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. This allows the spices to fully "bloom" and infuse the syrup with deep, woody notes.
Cool and Strain
- Steep: Remove from heat. For a stronger spice profile, let the spices sit in the liquid until it reaches room temperature.
- Strain: Pour the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into a glass jar. Discard the whole spices.
- Store: Keep in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to one month.
