Ingredients
- 2 granny smith apples
- 2 fuji apples
- ¾ tsp Apple Pie Blend
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ cup sugar
- ⅛ tsp salt (optional)
Preparation
Peel and core the apples and cut into ½” pieces.
Place the apples in a saucepan with the other ingredients over medium heat.
Stir every 5 mins or so to keep the ingredients mixed.
Cook for about 15 minutes total. You will see the apples start to fall apart as they cook and become soft.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool slightly (about 10 minutes).
Using a potato masher or fork, mash the apples to your desired consistency. You can also use a blender or food processor if you would like.
Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
This is great on its own or as a side to a pork dish.
